In the efforts to strengthen Public-Private Partnership in the implementation of sustainable livelihood programs for the poor families and communities, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) facilitated the signing of Memorandum of Agreement between the Taguig City Social Welfare and Development Office and Ang-Hortaleza Foundation, Inc (AHFI), held on July 3, 2012 at the office of AHFI in Brgy. Canumay, Valenzuela City.

AHFI is a non-stock, non-profit organization that promotes self-reliance, productivity and local entrepreneurship through an income generating livelihood training program on basic cosmetology through its Ganda Mo, Hanap Buhay Ko project.

Under the MOU, the Local Government Unit (LGU) can request the AHFI to conduct free basic cosmetology training program for its identified Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries and guarantees their attendance during the scheduled training.

The AHFI on the other hand will provide the trainers, training materials, certificates of completion and starter kits to the participants who will complete the training program.

Basic cosmetology training to 25 Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries from the City of Taguig has been set from July 16-20, 2012.

Just recently, 27 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino beneficiaries from the city of Navotas completed a five-day livelihood course on basic cosmetology organized through the partnership of DSWD, City of Navotas and AHFI.

Aireen Salazar, a beneficiary from Navotas City who completed the 5-day training said that the training was very beneficial because it gave her the opportunity to earn.

“Ang mga natutunan ko dito ay magagamit ko para kumita kahit nasa bahay lang,”said Salazr.

“The livelihood course enabled these beneficiaries to acquire skills in identifying types of beauty care tools and its use; haircutting for males and females; foot spa, manicure and pedicure; hair perming; hot oil treatment; hair coloring and highlights,” said Ma. Theresa Rañada, Project Development Officer II of DSWD-NCR. ###
