The Child Participation Council (CPC), a strategy in “Ako’y Kasali,” a social technology project, which aims to help in the healing and recovery of the residents of Marillac Hills, recently conducted waste segregation drive to instill among the residents about proper waste management.

In order to accomplish its project, the officers of CPC requested unused oil cans from the dietary service which they recycled to produce nine (9) trash cans. They placed it on every outpost and there are two (2) segregated cans: biodegradable and non-biodegradable, which are located at the Jose Fabella Memorial School inside the center and at the entrance of Marillac Hills.

As part of the project, the members also made a placard with the message, “Panatilihing Maayos, Malinis ang ating Kapaligiran upang Sakit ay Maiwasan.”

The project earned positive feedback from the residents and staff because it decreased the littering and trash found on the grounds of the center.

Moreover, the CPC also strives to create enabling environment that will support restoration of social functioning of the children.

Marillac Hills is a residential care facility for female children 7-18 years old victims of sexual abuse, exploitation, trafficking and children in conflict with the law in need of social care and special protection.###
