lgus awrding soraIn recognition of their valuable and notable contribution in the implementation of social protection programs and services, the Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) awarded the Local Government Units (LGUs), Non-Government Organizations, Civil Society Organizations, partners and key stakeholders in Metro Manila, during the conduct of its 3rd State of the Region Address (SORA) in line with the celebration of its 37th founding anniversary held at Cuneta Astrodome, Pasay City on October 23, 2015.

DSWD-NCR Regional Director acknowledged the support provided by the stakeholders in the successful implementation of their programs for the poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged.
The following are the awards received by the LGUs:
1. Caloocan – Champion LGU in the Implementation of Youth Welfare Programs & Services (CICL)
2. Las Piñas – Champion LGU in Compliance to the Timely and Accurate Submission of Social Welfare Development Reports
3. Makati – Champion LGU in the Implementation of Senior Citizen Welfare Programs & Services
4. Malabon – Champion LGU in the Implementation of Social Technology Projects (Adopted FDAPP)
5. Mandaluyong – Champion LGU in the Implementation of PWD Welfare Programs & Services
6. Manila – Most Number of Organized Task Forces addressing Homeless Individuals & Families at Risk on the Streets
7. Marikina – Champion LGU in the Implementation of Youth Welfare Programs & Services (OSY)
8. Muntinlupa – Champion LGU in the Implementation of Emergency Assistance as part of Disaster Risk Reduction Management
9. Navotas – Champion LGU in the Compliance of Beneficiaries to the Conditionalities of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program
10. Parañaque – Champion LGU in the Implementation of Prevention Program on Human Trafficking
11. Pasay – Only Local Government Unit to almost accomplish 100% of the Technical Assistance Resource Augmentation Plan
12. Pasig – Champion LGU in the Implementation of Special Projects, Relief & Emergency Assistance as part of Disaster Risk Reduction Management
13. Pateros – Champion LGU in the Implementation of Women Welfare Programs & Services
14. Quezon City – Highest Number of Petitions / Applications filed in compliance to RA 9523
15. San Juan – Most Compliant LGU in terms of Financial Liquidation
16. Taguig – Champion LGU in the Implementation of Prevention Program on Human Trafficking
17. Valenzuela – Champion LGU in the Implementation of Convergence Strategy, BUB Projects and Sustainable Livelihood Program

Moreover, the DSWD-NCR also recognized the significant contribution of the CSOs and private individuals as partners in the implementation of social welfare and development programs and projects namely: Ateneo de Manila University – John Gokongwei School of Management, Charity First Foundation, International Container Services Foundation Inc., Philippine Good Work Mission Foundation Inc., International Holistic Engagement for Life and Progress (I-Help) – Manila, Kabraso Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Lighthouse Christian Community Foundation, Associatio of pastors for Outreach and Intercession, Pastors and Elders Association for righteous Leadership, Silverstone Training Academy, Best Friends, Branchforth Foundation, CM Pancho Construction Inc., Elite Ads Corporation, Ms. Geraldine Chua-Santiago, Jesus Advocates Ministry, De La Salle-Zobel, Manila Traveller’s Club, Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), Ms. Sally valdez, Verizon, Western Union Foundation, Ms. Wilma T. Chua, DPWH-UPMO and Junior Chamber International – Alabang Chapter.

The unwavering support and commitment of the ABSNET members in strengthening the cooperation and coordination among Social welfare Development agencies that promote quality implementation of programs and services were also cited.

Also awarded were Asilo De San Vicente de Paul and Concordia Children’s Services Inc. for meeting the second level of accreditation for its residential and community based programs and services that ensure the quality of service implementation to its beneficiaries, together with Hospicio de San Jose for being the 1st Social Welfare Development Agency to be awarded with Level 3 accreditation or Center of Excellence in the National Capital Region.
