To further equip the staff of Marillac Hills, a center that is being managed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR), some 28 staff of are underwent a Gender and Development Training cum Team Building activity to enhance their knowledge on gender sensitivity, held on December 23-24, 2015 at Pina Colina, Tagaytay City.

DSWD-NCR Regional Director Ma. Alicia S. Bonoan emphasized that the training would help the staff to better deliver the comprehensive programs and services to its target clientele and to further improve the social functioning of its residents towards mainstreaming them to the community.

The activity is in line with the Philippine Plan for Gender Responsive Development (PPGRD) which envisions a society that promotes gender equality and women’s empowerment and upholds human rights among other development goals.

Marillac Hills is a temporary shelter for girls and young women who are in need of social care and special protection.  It has developed expertise in helping victims cope with the trauma of sexual abuse, exploitation, unwanted pregnancy and/or in handling girls and young women in conflict with the law. ### (FO-NCR, Social Marketing Office)
