Last February 14, the Golden Reception and Action Center for the Elderly and Other Special Cases (GRACES) conducted a special program for their residents in celebration of Valentine’s Day. The activity is part of GRACES year-long competition in which the center’s staff were equally divided into four Houses’, namely Ravenclaw House, Slytherin House, Gryffindor House and Hufflepuff House. Each House has a candidate who will be competing in the “King and Queen of Hearts” pageant and in a short film making competition which tackles the different types of love.

During the King and Queen of Hearts pageant, the contestants paraded in two different outfits: their National Costume – which embodies the animal that represents their house and their casual wear. The candidates also presented their different talents such as singing and dancing, much to the delight of the residents who were the audience for the day’s events.

While the scores to determine this year’s King and Queen of Hearts were tallied by the judges, each House’s entry in the short film competition were shown to the audience in Louis Coson Hall. Each short film aims to show a different concept of love.

At the end of the day, Mr. Wilfredo Villamor and Ms. Virginia Nakamure of Hufflepuff House were crowned the King and Queen of Hearts. Hufflepuff House also bagged the top prize for the short film competition.

To close the ceremony, Ms. Farrah A. Cabrera, the Center Head for GRACES thanked everyone for their enthusiasm and support for GRACES’ Valentine’s Day activity. She also warmly congratulated the newly crowned King and Queen of Hearts. ###
