For this year’s month-long celebration of Nutrition Month with the theme “Kumain nang wasto at maging aktibo… Push natin ‘to!” (Eat healthy and be physically active… Let’s do this!), Nayon ng Kabataan started the event with a kick-off parade on July 6, 2019 to promote awareness on the importance of healthy diet, and increased physical activities.

On the same day, various activities were conducted, such as poster making contest, wherein selected clients competed to showcase and develop their artistic talents and self-expression.

Demonstration of easy to cook merienda like boiled camote, puto, and pastillas, and preparation of delicious dishes such as longganisa and roasted chicken were also conducted during the celebration. Ms. Loren May R. Oliva, Nutritionist Dietitian, explained the benefits and examples of healthy diet and its relation to physical activity, as well as the proper weight management and healthy lifestyle.

COOKING TIME. During the cooking contest, NK Kids with Ms. Amanda Bautista, Teacher from Jose Fabella Memorial School, Ms. Joy Camposano, Admin Service, describe and explain their menu.
TALK FOR HEALTHY LIFESTYLFE. NK’s clients and staff participate in the series of healthy lifestyle lectures.

Nutri Bingo cum Nutri Fiesta was also conducted on July 23, 2019 to familiarize the residents and staff with different healthy food items like vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, root crops, poultry products, as well as the ingredients that they can use in a particular healthy recipe.

NUTRI BINGO. Played by crossing off the food items you have on your tickets when they are called out. The aim of the game is to cross off all the food items before anyone else.

The month-long celebration of Nutrition Month capped off with a Nutri-Fashion Show wherein the staff and clients showed their creativity by preparing and showcasing costumes and performances related to healthy lifestyle.

Nayon ng Kabataan is a residential care facility for the abused, orphaned, abandoned, neglected, and exploited children ages 7-17 years old, both male and female. It is located at Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City. ###
