Elsie Gaches Village joins in the celebration of the Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection Week (CPAP). The activity is conducted every year pursuant to the Proclamation No. 588 or the Disability Laws of National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA). For this year, the week-long activity runs from September 16 to 22, 2020.

The activity is part of the state policy that deals with just and free environment for Persons with Disabilities particularly, persons with cerebral palsy nationwide. The NCDA, in partnership with Cerebral Palsy Association of the Philippines and other concerned organizations, including the DSWD NCR are directed in ensuring the proper observance of the said celebration.

The EGV Psychological Service Department prepared activities for health and art that will let the residents with cerebral palsy enjoy at the same time, help them develop. The selected residents actively participated in the Physical Activity, the Indoor Bocce which aims to develop cooperation, interaction and solidarity among each other. The Indoor Bocce or Boccia for persons with disability is a shorter- range game, played with leather balls on an indoor, smooth surface. Bocce/Boccia helps in developing the visual motor integration and the use of eye and hand coordination of people with cerebral palsy.

The Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection Week provide the residents and the staff the knowledge on how to manage and provide the needs of the residents with cerebral palsy.

“The DSWD NCR will stay true to its commitment to provide care and love to our residents in the Elsie Gaches Village,” said Ms. Nieve Gentelizo, Social Worker in the Center.
