Everyone is born with unique traits and characteristics which make us realize, what we think and what we desire is not the same for every man. A human being is not physically created the same. We are built differently and some of us have a special quality that needs certain attention.

People living with a physical impairment, particularly orthopedically impaired, are likely to have difficulty in mobility. This impairment is usually caused by a congenital deviation, impairments caused by disease (poliomyelitis, bone tuberculosis), and impairments from other causes (cerebral palsy, amputations, and fractures or burns that cause contractures) which can happen to all ages. More than this physical condition, they are greatly affected by its impact on their everyday lives economically, socially, mentally, and emotionally. The provision of prosthetic devices will help them improve their mobility hence a contributory factor to uplifting them.

Meanwhile, the Rotary Club Manila Metro (RCMM) continuously provides different donations to the center for the past decades. Recently, they have donated prosthetic legs for 13 persons with an orthopedic impairment. Six (6) physically challenged clients had already received their prosthetic legs while the other seven (7) are still in ongoing production. The RCMM is doing this for twenty-four years already.

Also, Mr. Anthony Garganta, former Instructor, and Prosthesis Technician of NVRC continue to assist and be part of this special project for the improvement of the trainees and clients of the center. The prosthesis device of the facility is made up of fiberglass and it can be below or above the knee.

Furthermore, on January 3, 2023, an Awarding and fitting Ceremony was held at NVRC Multi-Purpose Hall facilitated by the Placement Service. This was participated by representatives of Rotary Club Manila Metro, beneficiaries, and NVRC staff. The ceremony was started by an opening prayer led by Ms. Margarita Yamamoto followed by an inspirational message from Ms. Maria Liza Mahinay, TCS II/Center Head, who delivered her welcome address and expressed her thankfulness to RCMM for their support to persons with disability, especially those with orthopedic impairments.

Mr. Jeffrey Quitco, who recently graduated in computer software and is one of the beneficiaries of NVRC received his prosthetic leg. He expressed his gratefulness to the donors and to the center for providing programs and services for physically impaired clients like him.

Moreover, to conclude the said program, Ms. Elizabeth Lorenzo, President of RCMM delivered her closing message and committed to continuously providing free prosthesis devices to the beneficiaries of the center. ####
