The Elsie Gaches Village (EGV) and Jose Fabella Memorial School (JFMS) Special Needs Education (SNED) Unit held its 1st Quarter Recognition Ceremony for School Year 2025–2026 on October 17, 2025, at the EGV Mansion. This significant event celebrates the individual triumphs and developmental milestones of learners with intellectual and neurodevelopmental disabilities. The partnership between EGV, a specialized residential care facility, and JFMS, a dedicated special school, embodies the government’s commitment to inclusive education—ensuring that every learner, regardless of ability, receives quality education and lifelong learning opportunities.
In the SNED program, success is measured not by conventional grades but through each learner’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals that emphasize functional skills, adaptive behavior, and pre-vocational training. Awardees are recognized for achievements such as improved communication, mastery of self-help activities, behavioral progress, and active participation in group activities. The recognition ceremony, held within the grounds of EGV Mansion, gathers residents, teachers, houseparents, and partners to honor these milestones. Highlights include the Presentation of Awardees and Special Performances by the students—heartwarming moments that showcase their creativity, perseverance, and joy in learning.
Beyond celebration, the recognition ceremony serves as a powerful symbol of hope and advocacy. For learners, it reinforces self-worth and motivation to keep striving toward independence. For educators and caregivers, it affirms their dedication, patience, and expertise in nurturing progress. Most importantly, the event shines a light on the continuing need for public awareness and community support for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (PWID). The EGV–JFMS SNED 1st Quarter Recognition 2025–2026 stands as a testament to the transformative power of compassion and inclusive education—proving that every achievement, no matter how small, is a victory worth celebrating.
