Four (4) residents from the Elsie Gaches Village (EGV) bagged gold medals in the Men’s and Women’s Doubles events at the 2026 Special Olympics Pilipinas (SOP) Badminton National Cup held from June 13 to 15, 2026, at the Biñan City Senior High School West Campus in Laguna.
Kenneth Duremdez and Leonardo “Jojo” Limbaga showed great teamwork and skill to claim the championship title in the Men’s Doubles event. Meanwhile, in the Women’s Doubles division, Jan-jan Say and Angela Estrael also delivered an impressive performance to secure the gold medal.
The twin championship victories were the result of months of dedicated preparation. Supported by committed houseparents, coaches, and activity coordinators, the resident-athletes underwent intensive training that combined adaptive fitness programs with specialized badminton drills. Through consistent practice and mentorship, they transformed determination into success on the national stage.
Upon returning home to Muntinlupa City, the athletes received a warm welcome from fellow residents and staff. Their success serves as an inspiration to the entire EGV community and proves that with determination and support, everyone can achieve great things.
