Four (4) residents of the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY) reached an important milestone as they joined the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Graduation Ceremony on July 2, 2026, after successfully passing the ALS Examination. The graduation was a proud moment for the residents as it recognized the time, effort, and determination they put into finishing their studies through the ALS program. It also showed that with the right support and commitment, they can continue moving forward and achieve their goals.

The 17-years old RRCY resident alias ‘Shen’ expressed her joy and happiness about continuing her studies despite life’s challenges. She made sure to express her gratitude for the perseverance of the ALS teachers who never gave up on teaching them. “Sobrang saya ko kasi unexpected na maka-graduate ako sa ALS program. First time kong makaakyat ng stage at nalagpasan ang mga hamon ng buhay. Nagpapasalamat ako sa teacher na walang sawang nagtuturo sa amin para kami matuto. Sa una, mahihirapan ka pero ‘pag natapos na, masasabi mo na lang na ganoon pala iyon,” Shen explained.

After completing the ALS program, the graduates are now enrolled in Grade 11 and have started their Senior High School education. This marks another step in their learning journey and gives them more opportunities to prepare for the future. “Kahit na masasabing CICL kami, kaya rin naming magtapos at magbago. Kahit hindi madali ang mga napagdadaanan, nakakayanan pa rin ito at sana hindi ito hanggang dito lamang at sana’y maabot naming ang iba pa naming pangarap,” She hopefully said.

RRCY is a facility designed to provide intensive treatment in a residential setting for the rehabilitation of CICL whose sentences have been suspended. It serves as a nurturing out-of-home placement for children in need of rehabilitation. RRCY is one of the 14 center and residential care facilities (CRCF) under the supervision of the DSWD Field Office-NCR.
