The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) distributes relief goods to families who are currently housed in the evacuation centers of affected cities in Metro Manila.
As of August 9 at 8:00am, a total of 359 evacuation centers from 260 barangays in Metro Manila are still open to temporarily house the 44,645 families or 217,665 individuals who were affected by floods due to continuous heavy rainfalls.
DSWD-NCR Regional Director, Ma. Alicia S. Bonoan said that some P6.7 worth of assistance from DSWD, Local government units, Non-Government Organizations and concerned citizens has been provided to the affected families.
Bonoan added that DSWD-NCR also deployed staff and volunteers to monitor and assist the LGUs in the operation of evacuation centers. (August 9, 2012)
