The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) partnered with the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurs (PCE) Go Negosyo in providing employment to the Out of School Youths (OSY) who are beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.
Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program is a conditional cash transfer program that provides incentives to poor families to invest in their future by ensuring that mothers and children avail of healthcare and that children go to school.
Dubbed as Negosyo Mo Bukas Ko Project, at least 156 OSY from seven cities in Metro Manila will be given the opportunity to be employed and subsequently go back to school to finish their studies.
The seven LGUs are San Juan, Makati, Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Manila, and Quezon City.
DSWD-NCR Regional Director, Ma. Alicia S. Bonoan said that this partnership boosts the government’s Private-Public Partnership efforts that ensure faster, smarter and better delivery of social services through mobilization of resources of the private sector.
“The Philippine Center for Entrepreneurs has the capability and technology to develop the mindset and attitude of the youths that will prepare them as they engage in entrepreneurial activities,” said Bonoan.
Bonoan added that the 156 OSY will be required by PCE to attend orientations together with their parents or guardians, and participate in the two months training that will test their physical, emotional and psychological capacity.
The training includes the Pro-Camp or challenge seminar wherein participants have to pass series of challenges that will teach them positive values and the training for transformation which is a mentoring and coaching strategy that will teach the OSY how to dress up and present themselves as professionals.
“This effort is also part of our convergence strategy that ensures complementation of services from various groups to maximize their resources for a greater impact on poverty reduction,” Bonoan added. ###
