Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman indulged stress debriefing to the management and staff of DSWD-Field Office NCR who are assisting the survivors of super typhoon Yolanda at the Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.
During the DSWD EXECOM Interaction and Thanksgiving with FO-NCR on December 16, 2013 at the DSWD–NCR grounds, laughter yoga was conducted by Mr. Paolo Martin Trinidad, a guidance counselor by profession and a yoga master. He has already rendered his expertise to the victims of Zamboanga armed conflict, earthquake in Bohol, and to other disaster-affected areas in partnership with the Department.
Different laughing procedures were taught by Mr. Trinidad in rhythm with the beats of his percussion instruments such as the drum and cymbals where he put further emotions in every move. This gesture encouraged active participation of the audience.
He said that laughter helps in releasing stress, can boost immune system of a person and laughing for a few minutes is as good as an ordinary body work-out.
Indeed, this is the first time in DSWD-NCR to undergo a stress debriefing thru laughter yoga.
Meanwhile, Secretary Soliman in her inspirational message expressed her gratitude to the DSWD-NCR management and staff for their “mahusay, matapat at magiliw na paglilingkod to the survivors of Yolanda.”
“Since NCR has been the catch basin of our beloved constituents who are badly affected by super typhoon Yolanda and seek for refuge away from their devastated areas, I want to thank each of you for untiringly responding to their immediate needs,” she emphasized.
Moreover, Secretary Soliman shared 25 tickets for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) during the raffle draw done after delivering her inspirational message. She said those tickets were given by MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino.
