The Japan Governmental Inquiry Commission on Anti-Human Trafficking to the Philippines recently visited the Nayon ng Kabataan and discussed the interventions and services being provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to victims of human trafficking.

DSWD-NCR OIC-ARD for Operations Jacel J. Paguio shared that the efforts of other government agencies and partners were converged to prevent the vulnerable women and children from being victims of human trafficking.

“As a developing country, we know that we are vulnerable to human trafficking. Thus, we are exerting all our efforts to address the issue. We believe that one agency cannot do it alone and one of the strategies is through the operations of a facility like Nayon ng Kabataan,” Paguio stated.

The Japanese delegates also shared their approach in combating human trafficking in their country.

Nayon ng Kabataan is one of the DSWD facilities that cater to abused, orphaned, abandoned, neglected, trafficked and exploited children seven (7) to 17 years old, both male and female.
