Sweet scent of sampaguita garlands filled the stage of DSWD-Sanctuary Center’s social hall as delighted student-clients, staff and spectators gathered and attended the fifth Recognition Day program recently.
Ms. Margarita J. Ortega, Officer-In-Charge of the center, gave inspirational message to enthusiastic student-clients as they celebrate their hard work and participation in different therapeutic activities. She acknowledged the perseverance of 21 student-clients in their desire to improve their residual skills.
Ms. Ortega also recognized the effort of student-clients to become self-sufficient by engaging in mentally stimulating activities despite their limitations and mental conditions. She also encouraged them to continue the program, so as to persistently provide important learnings to clients that which they may use when mainstreamed to their communities.
Further, special awards were given to deserving student-clients with outstanding abilities, such as: seven (7) for Music and Art – Therapy program; four (4) for Basic Literacy program; seven (7) for Personality Development; and three (3) for Expressive Arts.
Meanwhile, 11 clients who were successfully reunited with their families and participated in different therapeutic activities were also acknowledged during the ceremony.
A short video presentation of the student-clients throughout their school year was presented as part of the closing ceremony.
Selected students made their own interpretation of the song “Salamat” as their way of giving gratitude to all the staff of Sanctuary Center, followed by a parting message by Ms. Luz M. Buen, Activity Therapist. After which, graduation reception was arranged after the program.
