The Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) in partnership with the Philippine Goodworks Mission Foundation Inc. (PGMFI), awarded livelihood capital assistance amounting to P788,500.00 to 114 beneficiaries from the cities of Caloocan, Quezon, Las Piñas and Manila, on July 25, 2014.
In the Tulong Puhunan – Ahon Kabuhayan project of the foundation, the DSWD-NCR under the Sustainable Livelihood Program provided livelihood assistance to validate needy beneficiaries who were endorsed by the local government units in Metro Manila.
Since 2009, PGMFI has already assisted the Department in providing livelihood assistance to 718 beneficiaries in Metro Manila wherein 31 are Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries.
DSWD-NCR Director Ma. Alicia S. Bonoan, in her welcome remarks during the awarding ceremony, expressed gratitude to the continuing support of the foundation headed by former DSWD Undersecretary, now PGMFI Executive Director Ms. Belinda C. Manahan, in providing socio-economic interventions to poor households in the region since 2009.
Ahon Kabuhayan project beneficiaries must return the no-interest capital seed fund within six (6) months. Meanwhile, DSWD-NCR’s Project Development Officers are monitoring the operations of the approved projects funded by the livelihood assistance to the beneficiaries to ensure proper utilization of the capital seed fund. ###
