The Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) is continuously augmenting the relief operations of the local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila for the victims of tropical storm Mario.

 

According to Assistant Secretary Teodulo R. Romo Jr., Officer-In-Charge of DSWD-NCR, as of 5:00 p.m. today, the DSWD-NCR recorded a total of 13,624 displaced families with 64,374 individuals from 12 cities badly affected by tropical storm Mario.

 

As a response, food and non-food items are being provided to the victims in partnership with the local officials, wherein a total of 9,000 family packs have been distributed to the LGUs of Caloocan, Quezon City, Marikina, Malabon and 500 mats and blankets to the city of San Juan at the onset of the storm.

 

Stand-by goods in DSWD-NCR warehouse in NROC in Pasay and GRACES in Quezon City are continuously being made available to support the needs of the displaced families from the other affected cities, Manila, Valenzuela, Pasay, Makati, Taguig, Pasig and Mandaluyong, wherein the release of goods to the LGUs is now being facilitated.

 

The standard content of a family pack consists of six (6) kilos of rice, three (3) 155 gram cans of sardines, three (3) 170 gram cans of corned beef, one (1) kilo of brown sugar, and one (1) 50 gram of instant coffee. ###
