The Department of Social Welfare and Development National Capital Region (DSWD NCR) joined the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) at the recently conducted Information Caravan with the theme, “Pinagsama-samang Serbisyo, Para sa Tao!” held last March 15, 2019 at Barangay 105 Zone 8, District I, Tondo Manila. Around 1,500 participants attended this event along with different National Government Agencies.
This initiative aims to deliver centralized government services at the urban poor community as well as to engage them towards better opportunities. The caravan served as a one-stop-shop of orientations regarding different government and non-government services that the people can avail, such as health services, mental health awareness, legal advices, education assistance, employment assistance and other pro-poor programs. In this activity, DSWD NCR’s Information Officers were able to discuss some of the Field Office’s programs such as Emergency Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation, Unconditional Cash Transfer and Sustainable Livelihood Program.
The Caravan also installed booths which offer free services such as medical, dental, and eye check-up, local and international job fair, motor vehicle registration assistance, OFW Help Desk, processing of birth, death and marriage certificates, free body and foot massage, free haircut, assistance on health registration and membership, free medicines.
In the coming months, the DSWD-NCR will continue joining PCUP’s Information Caravan and will offer more orientation sessions regarding their programs, especially those that they were not able to tackle in this particular event. ###
