Maria Jeafe Alura, Success Story
Adoption is a process of taking care of someone by providing financial, emotional, physical, and spiritual support, with the guidance and approval of the government.
Maria Jeafe Alura is one of the many children that has been adopted and well taken care off. Faye was raised with the utmost love, care, attention, and financial support by her adoptive parents and family.
Even though she was sent to a private school, Faye still experienced getting bullied by a lot of children. Those bullies made fun of the fact that she is adopted, which made her lose interest in going to school. Faye was even blackmailed by some of her classmates which made her give out jeweleries, food, and other personal belongings to the bullies against her will. Luckily, her adoptive parents found out about this bullying and got Faye out of her situation.
When Faye was in her high school, her alleged biological mother went to her uninvited. This visit did not go well as Faye only learned to resent the woman for being a prostitute.
After the incident, Faye started rebelling. She completely lost interest in studying, she constantly misbehaved, and she chose to hang out with peers who were nothing but bad influence on her. At a very young age, Faye learned to live under one roof with her boyfriend. Due to these acts, Faye became involved in prostitution and exploitation wherein she eventually got rescued during an entrapment operation.
After this incident, Faye was brought to Haven for Women to receive intervention. At first, Faye showed unwillingness to cooperate and blatantly disobeyed the institution’s rules and regulations. Even so, Haven for Women did not give up on her. The institution did its best to make her feel at home, and helped her until she reached the point of acceptance and was able to function and plan for her future.
After realizing all her shortcomings and wanting to start anew, Faye decided to enrol in an Alternative Learning System (ALS). She eventually passed the examination for high school which made her adoptive family very proud. Despite everything, her family never stopped supporting her through all of her ups and downs.
While waiting to be reintegrated with her family, Faye chose to actively participate in the Food and Beverage training under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
