The Department of Social Welfare Development – National Capital Region (DSWD NCR) through the National Household Targeting Section (NHTS) is continuously conducting simultaneous orientation to the Liga ng mga Barangay in the 17 Local Government Units in Metro Manila.
The objective of the orientation is to gather support of the Barangays through the provision of socio-economic profile, maps of the areas to be assessed as well as other information that will be needed to ensure successful conduct of Listahanan 3rd National Household Assessment in the National Capital Region.
The Barangays play significant role in mapping the pockets of poverty that will be assessed by the Field staff.
“At this preparatory phase of the project, we highly appreciate the support of the Barangays as we need them to help us to put faces to the poorest of the poor,” Mr. Michael Mercado, Officer In Charge of NHTS said.
To date, orientations were already conducted to the Liga ng mga Barangays in Makati, Pasig and Las Piñas. The NHTS staff and Area Coordinators have scheduled orientations to the Liga ng mga Barangays of the remaining LGUs.
Listahanan is an information management system that identifies who and where the poor are in the country. The system makes available to National Government Agencies (NGAs) and other social protection stakeholders a database of poor families as basis in identifying potential beneficiaries of social protection programs and services. ###
