The Haven for Children (HFC) recently celebrated the National Science Month with the theme, “Reinventing the Future: Advancing Communities Through Science, Technology and Innovation”. The activity aims to draw the attention of the children to scientific knowledge and technological advances that have relative impact on the lives of the Filipinos.
The month-long activity officially started on September 02, 2019 with an activity called “Clean and Green Drive Project”, wherein the students of Jose Fabella Memorial School – HFC and their teachers helped in cleaning the vicinity of the school. Aside from the clean and green drive activity, the students also planted trees and other seedlings as part of their advocacy to save Mother Earth.
Poster Making Contest and Quizbee was also conducted to showcase the talents of the students as well as to help them imbibe the concept of having fun while learning. One of the most awaited parts of the activity was the “Mr. Inventor Contest” wherein the children will create their own science invention out of recycled materials.
Last October 2, the Culminating Program was held at HFC’s gymnasium to officially announce the winners of the contests.
The Haven for Children is a residential care facility that caters to former street children with the aim of leading them towards healing and empowerment. ###
