The Haven National Center for Women conducted a lecture and raise awareness on the 2019 Novel Corona Virus (Covid-2019) to the staff and residents of the center. The lecture was held at the Haven for Women covered court last January 4, 2020.
The activity was facilitated by the resident Doctor Ms. Wilhelmina Berroya and the center nurse, Ms. Herminia Casilihan and Kimberly Gines and 57 residents.
The lecture taught the residents and the staff on how to prevent and be safe on the risk of the 2019 Corona Virus. The speaker even gave some things to do in order to maintain a healthy and clean environment which includes the frequent cleaning of hands with antibacterial soap or use alcohol-based hand rub; Covering of nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing and use tissue or handkerchief to cover; Avoid close contact with anyone with flu-like symptoms and using of face mask when necessary.
The activity is vital to everyone in order to ensure that proper and correct information is disseminated. As the saying goes, “Prevention is better than cure.”
Center also initiated strengthening the advocacies campaign against Covid-2019 through posting of IEC materials in bulletin boards and other conspicuous areas in the center.
Haven for Women is a temporary shelter and protective custody to women ages 18- 59 years old who are victims of abuse and trafficking. It is located at Alabang Zapote Road, Alabang, Muntinlupa City, with telephone number 889-1412. ###
