MANDALUYONG CITY – DSWD-NCR’s Golden Reception and Action Center for the Elderly and other Special Cases (GRACES) and Regional Committee on Disability Affairs (RCDA) received awards from Mandaluyong City during the latter’s Awarding for Program Partners on February 17, 2020.
Both programs have demonstrated generous support to the pioneering activities and initiatives of Mandaluyong that aims to develop the programs and services of both the Field Office and the City for the vulnerable sectors in the Metro.
GRACES is one of the Residential Care Facilities managed by DSWD-NCR which caters to senior citizens who were abandoned or neglected by their own families. Local Government Units such as Mandaluyong City bring members of the elderly, who were found unattended or left on the streets, to GRACES.
RCDA, on the other hand, is an inter-agency committee chaired by DSWD-NCR which was created to address the issues of the disabled or the inconvenienced sector through the convergence of several National Government Agencies in NCR. Mandaluyong City won DSWD-NCR’s Dangal ng mga Taong May Kapansanan Award in 2019, being recognized by the Department and the RCDA as the most disability-friendly city in Metro Manila.
Mandaluyong City Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Aguilar Abalos conferred the plaque of appreciation to Ms. Maria Liza F. Mahinay, Social Welfare Specialist for Persons with Disabilities, who received the award in behalf of RCDA and to Ms. Virginia C. Daniles, Center Head, who received the award in behalf of GRACES. ###
