She was able to finish her one year training and was first employed as a Bakery helper but after several months, she resigned due to heavy workload. She then got employed in Happee Toothpaste for four (4) months on a contractual basis. According to her, her income is not enough to sustain the needs of her children and her own daily needs. Thus, she tried to look for another job but served futile. Hence, she ended up being a housewife.
On April 11, 2018, she went back in the center to undergo another training along housekeeping course. She was interviewed by the social worker and assessed by the allied services if fit for training. She was also adviced to focus on her training and not to be choosy in picking her on-the-job training so that she will be employed immediately.
On the same month, NVRC conducted a home visitation to Genelyn’s residence in Quezon City to gather more information and assess the family’s socio-economic condition. It was found out that they are living as informal settlers where they are prone to fire and flood since their rented room is very near to the creek. Thus, all the gathered information was presented to the Rehabilitation Team Meeting (RTM) of the Center for a personalized rehabilitation plan and intervention for Genelyn.
Genelyn was then admitted in the center for vocational training on May 2018. She underwent social rehabilitation for three (3) months and vocational training (housekeeping) for six months.
During her 9 months training in the center, she displayed willingness to learn and a helpful trait to her co-trainees. She is friendly, well-grommed, actively participates, and punctual in attending her class. She is attentive during discussions and is willing to share her ideas. She is polite to her training instructors, training staff, and co-trainees and can do her task and assignments with less supervision. Mor so, she was noticed for her active skills demonstration, maintains a very satisfactory grade, and was able to acquire all the module in housekeeping on time.
She was endorsed to Citihub Cainta on February 2019 for her three (3)-month on-the-job training. As per coordination with her employer, she is punctual and can work independently despite the distance of her OJT site from her residence. Afterwards, she was absorbed in Citihub, Cainta and was able to work as a contractual for 4 months with a monthly income of Php 8,000.
On October 10, 2019, her determination and industry got paid off as she was regularized in Citibhub Cainta as a housekeeper with a monthly income of Php. 14,000.00.
