The coronavirus disease, a pandemic that the world is battling against, has taken a devastating toll on the economy and has cost millions of jobs and businesses.
Amid this devastating situation, Rehabilitation Sheltered Workshop (RSW), a non-residential, business-work oriented facility of DSWD-NCR for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), remains committed in providing resources and assistance to its project workers; more so that inspired responses of help from non-profit organizations and individuals has emerged.
A proven vehicle of God’s love, compassion, and grace, God is Able
International Foundation, Inc. partnered with various churches and Christian groups to advocate and conduct reach-out activities for persons with disabilities. Through these efforts, the non-profit organization was able to donate a total of 110 sacks of rice that were turned over to RSW on April 6 and 14, 2020.
Another act of kindness came from a mother of an RSW staff, Mrs. Emelita Concepcion, who donated 420 pieces of eggs all the way from Bulacan, for RSW project workers who are currently affected by the pandemic.
On top of these, the management of RSW also took necessary measures to be able to provide financial aid to said project workers in which each of them will receive emergency financial assistance amounting to PhP3,000.00.
Through the dedicated efforts of RSW staff led by Mr. Arnel L. Bautista, RSW Center Head, the abovementioned donated resources and financial assistance were distributed to all the project workers on April 15, 2020 via house-to-house visitation. Said distribution was made possible through the coordination of RSW management with the Local Government of Pasig City.
Time and again, the solidarity of individuals and organizations has proven that working together in dealing with difficulties brings out the best in people.
DSWD-NCR’s Rehabilitation Sheltered Workshop will continue to progressively address the needs of persons with disabilities and provide the incovenieced sector with income-generating productivity activities in a hazard-free work environment that is conducive to their situations.
RSW is located at JP Burgos, Barangay Escopa III, Project IV, Quezon City.
