The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office National Capital Region (DSWD FO NCR), as well as its Centers and Residential Care Facilities, participated in the 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2021. The said activity was streamed live on the Office of Civil Defense’s official Facebook page at 9:00 a.m. on November 11, 2021.

After hearing the loud siren which served as an announcement of the commencement of the drill, DSWD-NCR staff and its clientele actively participated in the conduct of “Duck, Cover, and Hold”. No evacuation drills or face-to-face scenarios were conducted to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 in compliance with the public health measures implemented in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In relation to said activity, Disaster Response Management Division distributed advocacy leaflets with the theme, “#HANDA ka na ba at ang iyong pamilya pagdating ng iba’t ibang uri ng kalamidad tulad ng BAHA, SUNOG, at LINDOL?”.  Said advocacy aims to provide additional information regarding the preparations which can be made by an individual or the whole family in the event of any disaster or emergency.

This leaflet provides information and tips relative to: what to do before, during, and after a disaster. For the full details, just click this link: https://bit.ly/3gsVjwD to access said material.

The conduct of quarterly NSED seeks to educate the public on disaster preparedness against earthquakes and tests the contingency plans of Local Government Units, Government Agencies, private sectors, and other partners.

Furthermore, DSWD FO NCR through Disaster Response Management Division will continue to raise awareness and promote similar endeavors to build a disaster-resilient nation. ###
