Upon the instruction of DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, NCR Director Atty. Michael Joseph Lorico inspects the agency’s warehouse today (October 5) after the report of the Commission on Audit (COA).
Together with Director Lorico is NCR Disaster Response Management Division Chief Bienvenido Barbosa Jr., visited and monitored the current condition of the NCR warehouse in Pasay City.
Director Lorico personally talked to the personnels and volunteers of the warehouse to explain the report from the COA.
“Ang audit finding mula sa COA ay isang oportunidad para mas lalo pa nating husayan at pag-ibayuhin ang ating pasilidad,” Director Lorico explained.
During the visit, Director Lorico commended continuous efforts of the warehouse management in repairing damage ceiling and fences as a result of old building structure which needs renovation.
“Patuloy tayong maghahanap ng paraan para mapaayos ang warehouse kahit limitado tayo sa budget,” Director Lorico added.
When the National Council of Women in the Philippines (NCWP) fully vacated the establishment after contract expiration last 2022, the management utilized it to be the warehouse of the disaster relief goods.
Ms. Edzhel Camacho, warehouse personnel, shared that the personnel and volunteers always observes cleanliness and weekly general cleaning which involves disinfection and pest extermination, as part of warehouse management and sanitation.
“Lagi po nating pinapatupad dito ang CLAYGO (Clean As You Go) at first in, first out para maiwasang mabulok o ma-expired ang mga relief goods,” Camacho explained.
On the other hand, one of the on-going efforts of the Department to address the security measures is the construction of perimeter fence to commence this last quater of 2023.
Now, Director Lorico vows to continuously look for other mechanism for the improvement of the warehouse, as recommended.
“Maliban sa pagbibigay ng agarang serbisyo, sinisiguro rin natin ang kalidad na serbisyo para sa publiko,” Director Lorico said.
