Mrs. Cristina Carolina, lovingly known as “Inay”, recently celebrated her remarkable 100th birthday in Merville, Paranaque City. Inay dedicated thirty-six years in teaching at elementary school before becoming a principal for four years. After retiring, she committed her time to serve as the secretary of the Legion of Mary Group at Our Lady of Beautiful Love Parish Church in Merville, Paranaque City, showcasing her unwavering devotion to the Lord.
She was married to Mr. Gregorio Carolino, a former government employee at the National Media Production Corporation, and together they raised three children, seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Described by her son, Gilbert Carolino, as a deeply caring and affectionate mother. Inay is also known for her positive outlook in life, which she credits to her autumn of life and happiness. Her warm and welcoming nature has endeared her to many, as she continues to engage in meaningful conversations that uplift and bring joy to those around her.
Inay’s profound impact on the lives of children, particularly her former students is a testament to her incredible legacy. In recognition of her exceptional milestone, the Department of Social Welfare and Development National Capital Region recently honored Mrs. Cristina “Inay” Carolino with a cash grant and a Letter of Felicitation signed by the President of the Philippines on March 20, 2024.
Grateful for the recognition, Inay humbly expressed, “I cannot describe my feeling for these people who visited me. I do not know what to do with this reward. I just thank God because I am blessed. All I can say is I’m happy”, reflecting her genuine humility and appreciation for the blessings in her long and fulfilling life.
