As the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) 2024 approached, the Department of Social Welfare and Development National Capital Region (DSWD NCR) lead the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in enhancing disaster response strategies.
On October 14, 2024, at Orchid Garden Suites in Manila, DSWD NCR collaborated with various agencies to ensure the success of this important international event. The EOC served as a central hub, facilitating communication among government entities, local government units, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). This collaboration was crucial for overseeing resource allocation and providing vital safety information to the public.
DSWD NCR staff were on duty 24/7 at the EOC, ready to actively participate in and support all activities related to APMCDRR. Additionally, the Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD) ensured that resources from all member agencies in the response cluster were readily available, creating a strong support system for disaster preparedness.
The APMCDRR is a major conference where government officials and experts from the Asia-Pacific region convene to discuss strategies for reducing disaster risks. The conference focuses on sharing successful practices, improving policies, and building partnerships among governments, NGOs, and communities. It aims to enhance cooperation and strengthen efforts to prepare for and respond to disasters, aligning with international frameworks like the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. Overall, APMCDRR promotes resilience and sustainable development in the region. ###
