Addy and Kenny, identical twins, spent nearly a decade in a childrenโ€™s shelterโ€”waiting, hoping, and growing up without the certainty of family.

Born into a life marked by instability and neglect, the twins were first placed at the Regional Study Center for Children (RSCC) under the DSWD Field Officeโ€“National Capital Region when they were just four months old. At the age of seven, they were transferred to Nayon ng Kabataan (NK), where they would continue their journey together.

For nine long years, they lived within the same shelterโ€”sharing stories, school days, birthdays, and dreams. Despite the uncertainty surrounding their future, they held on tightly to each other and to the hope that one day, they would have a family to call their own.

Many families expressed interest in adopting the twins, but the twins were unique – they longed to be adopted together. Their greatest hope was to find a family they could truly call their own, one that would embrace them with unconditional love.

That hope began to take shape in 2024.

A compassionate couple from British Columbia, Canada, stepped forward with open hearts. After struggling to conceive, they felt it was time to grow their family through adoption. Partnering with their foreign adoption agency (FAA) and in coordination with the National Authority for Child Careโ€™s Special Home Finding Program, the Wetzels began the lengthy adoption process. Meanwhile, the Nayon ng Kabataan diligently prepared the necessary documents to facilitate the placement.

Joyfully, the twins’ placement was officially approved on July 9, 2024.

The twins and the couple had their video calls once a week from October 2024 to April 2025 in order to connect and build relationships and make them ready for the Entrustment.ย

After months of connecting virtually, Addy and Kenny finally met their new family on the day of entrustment on May 5, 2025. After nine years in care, the twins were finally able to embrace their adoptive parents in person, filled with hope and excitement for the new life and fresh beginnings awaiting them in Canada.
