In line with the global observance of Nelson Mandela International Day, the South African Embassy conducted a community outreach activity at Nayon ng Kabataan on July 18, 2025, highlighting Mandela’s legacy of service, solidarity, and social justice.
Mandela Day encourages people around the world to dedicate 67 minutes of service, symbolizing the 67 years Nelson Mandela devoted to the fight for justice, equality, and freedom. As part of this year’s celebration, the embassy expressed its gratitude to Nayon ng Kabataan, which had previously provided temporary shelter and support to South African nationals.
During the event, the embassy and its sponsors/partners donated essential items to NK residents, including foam mattresses, rice, hygiene kits, slippers, and more. The celebration also featured a Fire Safety Training session for the residents.
This annual initiative reflects the embassy’s strong commitment to community development and the spirit of giving back. Mandela Day stands as a global call to action, inspiring people to make a positive impact in their communities.
