The Department of Social Welfare and Development-National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) invites volunteers who will provide transportation assistance to internally displaced persons (IDPs) arriving at Villamor Air Base via C130 and other modes of transportation.
DSWD-NCR Regional Director Ma. Alicia S. Bonoan said the Field Office continues to accommodate the arriving IDPs from Eastern Visayas and provides for their basic needs through the help of generous donors and volunteers at Villamor Air Base.
Bonoan appealed to vehicle owners and transport groups to volunteer in ‘Hatod Kabayan,’ an initiative to provide free rides to typhoon survivors who are arriving at Villamor Air Base, going to their relatives and families in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
Those who would like to volunteer for ‘Hatod Kabayan’ may call or text 09062988532/09989821398. They may also go directly to Villamor Air Base and register at DSWD’s ‘Hatod Kabayan’ station.
‘Hatod Kabayan’ replaces the ‘Oplan Hatid’ initiative of civilian volunteers who organized themselves to provide a simple lift home to survivors of typhoon Yolanda.
“We are thankful to the organizers of ‘Oplan Hatid’ as it was able to send home some 3,328 families and 3,583 individuals to their families and relatives here in Metro Manila and nearby provinces,” disclosed Bonoan.
Bonoan is inviting more volunteers to join the government in its ‘Hatod Kabayan’ initiative to alleviate the situation of the IDPs. ###
