The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) National Capital Region and the City Government of Muntinlupa officially signed a partnership for the implementation of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) today (October 16) at the City Hall of Muntinlupa.

Signatories of the agreements were the City Mayor of Muntinlupa, Hon. Rozzano Rufino B. Biazon, Ms. Analyn A. Mercado, RSW (Head- SSD), and Atty. Nemei S. Santiago (Data Protection Officer). Representing the DSWD-NCR were Regional Director, Atty. Michael Joseph J. Lorico, Mr. Bienvenido JR V. Barbosa (ARD for Operations), and Mr. Benchie B. Gonzales (ARD for Administration).

The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) aims to boost social development programs and address the needs of low-income households, empower citizens, and promote inclusive growth in the City.

Likewise, the partnership intends to support the sustainability plan of the SLP aiming to reduce poverty by implementing various livelihood projects and activities.

Along with the signing of the MOA, the Specific Implementation Agreement and Data Sharing Agreement were also formally signed.

Present also during the ceremony were representatives from SLP-RPMO led by Regional Program Coordinator, Mr. Salvador S. Yulas and representatives from Social Services Department of Muntinlupa.

More Beneficiaries to Receive Livelihood Assistance

RD Lorico emphasized that the city may endorse more beneficiaries to be provided with livelihood intervention, especially for those who are in need.

Additionally, small businesses in the City affected by Typhoon Carina are expected to receive a livelihood settlement grant from the program. Each qualified family may receive up to Php 20,000.00, which they can use to rehabilitate their livelihoods.

About the Sustainable Livelihood Program

The Sustainable Livelihood Program is a flagship program of DSWD that helps vulnerable, marginalized, and disadvantaged individuals, families, and communities improve their livelihood assets and capacity to use their resources effectively.

All participants intending to join the program must coordinate with their respective LGUs.

The DSWD also reminds the public that all applications will be assessed and validated according to the eligibility requirements of the program.
