The Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR), through its Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD), ensured public safety during the Feast of the Black Nazarene on January 9, 2025. In coordination with the Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MMDRRMC), DSWD-NCR was on active monitoring, to provide possible support and resources to protect millions of devotees.
To maximize the efficiency of the operations, the DSWD-NCR through DRMD has deployed a Quick Response Team (QRT) to provide swift and effective coordination. The QRT plays a vital role in ensuring that any emergency or unforeseen situation is promptly addressed, contributing to the seamless execution of the celebration. In addition to maintaining vigilant monitoring, the team is prepared to respond rapidly to any incidents that may arise during the festivities.
Furthermore, DRMD remain in constant communication with the MMDRRMC and the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) throughout the celebration. This collaboration will help facilitate the provision of technical assistance, logistical support, and resource augmentation to address the needs of the crowd and ensure a smooth and safe experience for all involved. The combined efforts of these agencies aim to create a well-coordinated and effective disaster management framework, contributing to the safety and success of this religious event.
The success of disaster preparedness and response measures reflects DSWD-NCR’s commitment to public safety. Through strong partnerships, the department continues to promote a culture of readiness and resilience, ensuring a secure and meaningful celebration for all. ###
