Elsie Gaches Village (EGV) made an impressive remarks at the Regional Para-Athletics Meet 2025, held at the Ultra Sports Complex in Pasig City from March 10-14, 2025. The athletes, all with intellectual and developmental disabilities, competed with determination and enthusiasm, demonstrating their remarkable abilities at this important event organized by the Department of Education.

Months of hard work and training paid off for the athletes, who were guided by coaches Mr. Charlemagne Rinier C. Pascual and Ms. Marjorie S. Claudio from Jose Fabella Memorial School-Special Needs Education (SNED) – EGV Chapter, along with support from Homelife Service. The athletes participated in various events, including the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints, shot put, and the 4×100-meter relay, showcasing incredible skills and perseverance.

The event was not just about winning, but also about fostering inclusion. Athletes from different schools and regions interacted and formed lasting friendships, helping break down barriers and build a strong sense of community. Participating in the meet also taught the athletes important life skills like discipline, teamwork, and resilience, which will help them in many areas of life beyond sports.

One of the challenges during the preparation of the annual event is the limited training facilities and equipment. However, these challenges did not stop the athletes from achieving great things. Moving forward, EGV is committed in improving resources and support to ensure the athletes can continue to thrive.

The Regional Para-Athletics Meet 2025 was a huge success for EGV, highlighting the resilience and spirit of the athletes. EGV extends heartfelt thanks to the organizers, teachers, Homelife Service, Medical Service, Dietary Service, Social Service, and the Head Social Worker
for making this experience possible.

EGV remains dedicated in empowering athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities and promoting inclusivity in sports. This event was just the beginning, and it is looking forward to support these athletes as they achieve even greater success.
