As part of its Women’s Month celebration, Haven for Women hosted a Fire Drill and Disaster Preparedness Lecture on March 13, 2025. The event was designed to teach residents and staff important safety skills and knowledge for handling emergencies.
The day began with an informative lecture held at the Social Hall, where experts from the Muntinlupa City Disaster Risk Management Office and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Muntinlupa shared vital information on fire safety, disaster response, and emergency evacuation procedures. They guided participants on how to stay calm and take the right actions during a crisis, helping them understand the importance of being prepared.
After the lecture, the group moved to the evacuation area to take part in a practical fire drill. This hands-on exercise gave everyone the opportunity to practice what they had just learned in a real-life emergency scenario. It was an essential experience that allowed participants to gain confidence in their ability to respond quickly and safely in an actual disaster.
While Women’s Month often focuses on celebrating and empowering women, this initiative stood out as a practical example of empowerment. It emphasized that true empowerment means being equipped with the skills and knowledge to navigate real-world challenges, especially in times of crisis.
At Haven for Women, the goal is not just to advocate for women’s rights but also to ensure women are prepared for emergencies, making them stronger, safer, and more resilient. This fire drill and safety lecture reinforced the importance of safety, preparing women to face any crisis with confidence and poise.
In conclusion, the Fire Drill and Disaster Preparedness Lecture was a meaningful and empowering way to celebrate Women’s Month. It provided valuable, life-saving skills that will benefit the participants both inside the facility and beyond, ensuring they are ready to face any emergency with knowledge and strength.
