A time when people show feelings of love, affection and friendship, celebrated in many ways worldwide and falls on February 14 each year is Valentine’s Day.
People around the world celebrate Valentine’s Day by showing appreciation for the people they love or adore. They take their loved ones for a romantic dinner at a restaurant, while others may choose this day to propose or get married. Some people even give greeting cards, chocolates, jewelry or flowers, particularly roses, to their partners or to the person they admire.
It has been a yearly tradition at GRACES to take part in this celebration. This year, the Centers theme for the Valentine’s Day Program is, “Ikaw at Ako sa Araw ng mga Puso”, which was held on February 14, 2020 at Coson Hall. The program was spearheaded by the Homelife Service and participated by both the residents and staff of the Center. As part of the highlights of the program, the search for Mr. and Ms. Valentines 2020 and King and Queen of Hearts 2020 took place. The GRACES staff, and participants, our Lolos and Lolas walked down the hall parading with their beautiful dress. Contestants showcased their talents through singing and dancing. Representatives from Homelife and Psychological Services won the pageant.
Ms. Virginia C. Daniles, Social Welfare Officer IV, Center Head of the GRACES emphasized the importance of showing our love and care to our loved ones especially on this very special day. She also shared that Valentine’s Day is a festival to celebrate romantic love, friendship and admiration. “Ang pagkalinga at pag-aaruga ay isang paraan ng pagmamahal. Mga lolo at lola, dito sa GRACES, kayo po ay aming mahal. At ngayong araw ng mga puso, hayaan niyong kami ang magbigay ng ngiti at tuwa sa inyong mga labi. Ikaw at Ako, Tayong lahat dito sa GRACES, sa Araw ng mga Puso. Happy Valentine’s Day po,” Daniles said.
