The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) through its Health and Allied Unit has lined up several activities in the Field Office and in centers and institutions for the celebration of the 38th Nutrition Month.
Ms. Melissa de Mesa, DSWD-NCR nutritionist announced during the Monday flag ceremony that this year’s nutrition month theme is “Pagkain ng gulay ugaliin, araw-araw itong ihain!”
De Mesa said that the theme focuses on the importance of vegetables in healthy diet, to address micronutrient deficiency and prevent non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes.
Among the activities lined-up for the month long celebration included the nutri-parade participated by clients and staff which also marked the launching of the event, hanging of streamers, conduct of nutrition related lectures, Search for “Batang Malusog” and Healthy Baby Contest, nutri-bingo, poster making contest and cooking demonstration. ###
