At least 1190 program beneficiaries from Metro Manila participated in the 3-day virtual webinar on life and livelihood organized by the DSWD-NCR Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) last May 25 to 27 which was also streamed live on the Department’s official Facebook page.
The intention of SLP is to provide its beneficiaries with the opportunity to learn and grow, which has been shown as Filipinos continue to recover from the tremendous economic impact of the COVID19 pandemic. Hence, the Program has come up with a livelihood intervention to empower its beneficiaries in getting back on their feet—the SUSTAINABLE LIVELITALKS: Kabuhayan tungo sa Pagsibol, a 3-day webinar series that aims to educate participants with lessons toward entrepreneurial awakening.
The webinar covers the following entrepreneurial topics aimed to equip the audience towards enterprise growth: The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Chief Trade Industry Specialist Ms. Corona Olivia O. Rivera shared the Qualities of a Good Entrepreneur and Business Registration Processes; Bank of Makati Incorporated Head of Microfinance Department Mr. Daryl E. Sandoval discussed the Fundamentals of Bookkeeping and Financial Planning and; Commission on Population and Development (POPCOM) led by acting Regional Director Ms. Mary Jane A. Casimiro and Project Evaluation Officer Rev. Edgardo P. Abraham deliberated the topic Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning.
Meanwhile, Participants were also offered business opportunities from 4M SPC Tolling Services presented by Entrepreneur and Business Consultant Mr. Nelson Dulalia Jr. and opportunities from the SMF Community Selling presented by the Trade Inventory Manager of San Miguel Integrated Sales Mr. Leo Dela Cruz. The abovementioned private and government sectors have partnered with SLP in the service of capacitating poor Filipinos who manage small enterprises.
DSWD Field Office NCR Regional Director Mr. Ferdinand Lazaro D. Budeng emphasized that the department’s mission is to lift the lives of the Filipinos and mold their livelihoods into becoming “disaster-resilient”.
Moreover, the Zoom meeting and Facebook Livestream were filled with heartfelt greetings and appreciation messages from participants to the resource speakers and all SLP employees who made the program possible.

These are only a few of the numerous messages exchanged after the webinar was conducted. The Sustainable Livelihood Program achieved its objective of empowering its beneficiaries and will continue to organize events like this as a stepping stone for every aspirant.
