Male employees of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) moved together to call for the elimination of violence against women everywhere.

In the general assembly and election of officers held last August 24, 2012, Mr. Teodoro Selva, President of MOVE-NCR Chapter shared to the 44 participants a brief overview of the creation of MOVE and its constitution and by-laws.

 

‘MOVE stands for Men Opposed to Violence Everywhere is an organization of principled men whose members have dedicated themselves to be actively involved in eliminating all forms of discrimination and violence against women,’ Selva said.

Selva further explained that MOVE was organized by men from various organizations through the initiative of the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW) on November 27, 2006, during the commemoration of the 18-Day Campaign to End VAW.

‘We move to encourage men to commit themselves to be actively involved in the elimination of VAW as well as not to commit, nor condone,’ Selva added.

The elected officers of MOVE-NCR are President- Teodoro S. Selva,  Vice-President (Internal) – Godofredo Estepa, Jr., Vice-President (External) – Reynaldo Santos, Secretary – Jerry Digo, PRO – Fernando Santos, Treasurer – Mark Garcia, Auditor –Glenn Lopez, Sergeant – at-Arms –  John Payumo and Howard Tarca.
