The Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) has taken responsive action if typhoon Ruby hits Metro Manila.
The DSWD-NCR ensures that there are sufficient supplies of food and non-food items for possible augmentation to the 17 local government units (LGUs). Trucks and other vehicles from the Field Office and centers and residential care facilities (C/RCFs) are available in case supplies need to be mobilized for the disaster response.
Regional Director Ma. Alicia S. Bonoan said “We have downloaded goods and food packs to the LGUs identified to be severely affected by typhoon Ruby. The City Social Welfare and Development Offices (CSWDOs) shall account for the utilization and distribution of said goods.” Director Bonoan also emphasized that food packs should be distributed in its original packaging, as received by them.
As of today, the DSWD-NCR has provided a total of 4,800 food packs to the cities of Parañaque, Caloocan, Malabon, Las Piñas, Navotas and Municipality of Pateros.
The DSWD-NCR is closely coordinating with the LGUs for possible provision of augmentation support and status of possible evacuation centers for families. Moreover, Nayon ng Kabataan, Haven for Children and Elsie Gaches Village may be utilized as repacking hubs or additional warehouse for goods. ###
