Salamat po, DSWD-NCR,” Jocelyn Rames, a Pantawid Pamilya beneficiary, said with full smiles on her face.
She said that the meager income of her husband who works as driver is not enough to provide their daily needs, so she is very thankful to become one of the beneficiaries of the Self-Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran (SEA-K) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR).
The DSWD-NCR awarded capital assistance to 36 SEA-K associations composed of 436 beneficiaries from cities of Las Piñas, Mandaluyong, Manila, Navotas, Caloocan, Malabon, and Valenzuela, amounting to P2,650,000.00 today.
Asistant Regional Director Prescila R. Villa encouraged the beneficiaries to have discipline in terms of budgeting, spending and managing the money.
Under the Sustainable Livelihood Program, the Self-Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran (SEA-K) tract is a capability building program which aims to enhance the socio-economic skills of poor families through the organization of community-based associations for entrepreneurial development. ###
