The Department of Social Welfare and Development, through the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) or Listahanan, continues the conduct of the second family assessment in the National Capital Region (NCR) to assess the socio-economic status of families residing in identified “pockets of poverty” areas.
As of July 27, the DSWD has surveyed 408,774 households from the 17 local government units (LGUs) in NCR. Regional Director Ma. Alicia S. Bonoan is grateful for the support given by the Local Chief Executives and barangay officials, such as provision of security personnel among others, since the region is conducting tablet-aided enumeration to expedite the assessment process.
“Through Listahanan, we would like to ensure that only qualified families are included in the various social protection programs and services. Let us do our best and work together to make our database, sigurado, kumpleto at totoo,” Bonoan enthused during the trainings of the enumerators.
Some 2,311 field staff were deployed in different cities and municipality to cover the targeted 1,267,292 million families in the NCR.
The second assessment will also update the database of poor households that was generated in 2009. It can be recalled that DSWD has identified some 5.2 million poor households nationwide, wherein 316,823 was in NCR.
Listahanan is an information management system which aims to identify who and where the poor are in the country. It makes available to national government agencies and other social protection stakeholders a socio-economic database as basis for identifying beneficiaries of their programs and services. ###
