The Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) Disaster Response Team is now continuously monitoring the situation of the evacuation centers in Metro Manila as effect of the southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon “Falcon.”
As part of the resource augmentation mandate, the Department has already distributed a total of 6,500 family food packs for affected families in Mandaluyong, Caloocan and Quezon City.
As of 2:00p.m. today, DSWD-NCR has recorded the number of 429 families composed of 1,971 individuals that were affected by Habagat wherein out of the said figure, 347 families composed of 1,668 individuals are still staying in the evacuation centers at Valenzuela, Caloocan and Quezon City.
The respective LGUs of the mentioned cities confirmed in serving hot meals for the affected residents.
Meanwhile, the Department has prepared 24,057 family food packs which are ready for distribution once requested by the LGUs or district offices in NCR.
Among the opened and currently operating evacuation centers in Valenzuela are Tugatog Elem. School, Bartolome covered court (Viente Reales), Valenzuela National High School and Constantino Elem. School. While Brgy. 175 Hall, Pag-Asa Elementary School, Brgy. 171 Lot 581 Alteveros Covered Court and Rene Cayetano Elem. School are in Caloocan City.
Further, San Isidro Labrador Chapel and Roxas Covered Court served as temporary shelter of affected families in Quezon City.###
