The Tzu Chi Foundation, in cooperation with the Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR), conducted a rice relief distribution to 1,060 Muslim beneficiaries from Barangays 645, 647, and 648, Maila held on July 24, 2015.
Melchor Gaspar Baltazar, together with his wife Lucy, expressed their gratitude as one of the beneficiaries of this project, “Malaking tulong sa pamilya ang relief na ito. Kapos din kasi talaga ang aming pamilya. Maraming salamat sa Tzu chi at DSWD.”
DSWD-NCR Assistant Regional Director for Operations Jacel J. Paguio; together with Congresswoman Sandy Ocampo, 6th District-Manila; National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) Bureau of Settlement Director Paharodin Pangcoga, local government officials, Chairpersons of barangays 645, 647, and 648, and Tzu Chi Foundation volunteers, facilitated the activity.
Meanwhile, beneficiaries of this project were recently assessed by the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) or Listahanan, an information management system that identifies who and where the poor are, during the conduct of its second family assessment.
The Tzu Chi Foundation, a Taiwan-based foundation founded by their Master, Cheng Yen, has been a long-time partner of DSWD-NCR in helping poor Filipino families in Metro Manila. ###
