As early as 3 o’clock in the morning every Monday, Elvie Julianas, 43 years old and a mother of six (6) children brings up herself from bed to go to their feeding program’s central kitchen to prepare the meals of over 20,000 children in Valenzuela City.
Aside from this, Elvie also unselfishly dedicate herself in assisting her fellow beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilya that as Parent Leader, she encourages them to continuously use their respective cash grants accordingly and advises them on how they may manage their income to prevent shortage of resources for other basic necessities.
Elvie is also an active PTA officer in the school of her children and an active member of the Nanay-teacher association in their LGU wherein their primary objective is to advocate that the parents shall be the first mentor of the children.
Meanwhile, her husband Rodolfo is a helper in a factory and earning a minimum wage which is the main means of income of the family aside from the proceeds of Elvie’s mini sari-sari store.
Without expecting anything in return, Elvie continuously help others as much as she could until the Valenzuela LGU together with the DSWD-NCR’s City Link noticed that her family possesses exemplary traits of a model family, thus, nominated them to be their LGU’s representative in the regional Search.
On September 25, 2015 at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Julianas family was among the hopeful families of the 17 LGUs in Metro Manila who shall be conferred as this year’s Regional Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya 2015.
At 3:00pm on the said day, Julianas family was finally announced as the winner who shall represent NCR in the National Search for 2016.
With teary eyes, Elvie expressed how thankful she is that her family was considered to be the nominee of their LGU and eventually won the regional Search.
“Lubos akong nagpapasalamat sa mga taong nakita ang aming pamilya bilang Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya ng NCR… hindi ko inakala na ang aming pagtulong sa kapwa ay masusuklian ng ganitong karangalan,” she said.
Further, DSWD-NCR Regional Director Ma. Alicia S. Bonoan in her closing message conveyed her deepest gratitude to everyone who actively participated in the activity with encouragement to all the nominees to continue inspiring others and their fellow beneficiaries of the program.
