Haven for Children Valentine 2016

February is the month when most of us celebrate Valentine’s Day by giving candy, chocolates, flowers, stuff toys, among others to people we love. Aside from this, the National Intellectual Disability Week and National Awareness Week for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation are also being observed during this month.

The Haven for Children, a residential care facility for children between 14 to 17 years old who are abandoned, neglected and victims of substance abuse, conducted a post-Valentine celebration with some of the children-residents from other centers namely Elsie Gaches Village and Marillac Hills last February 15, 2016.

Residents enjoyed the special night wearing their beautiful dresses, gowns and formal attires. They danced gracefully and met new friends from other centers. They also actively participated in games prepared by the center staff such as apple eating contest and paper dance. Meanwhile, awards were given to those who stand out among others which include Best Dressed, Mr. Killer Smile, Best in Hugot Line and the most coveted, King and Queen of Hearts 2016.

Indeed, it was a fun-filled and heartwarming activity for these children as it became a welcoming place for everyone regardless of their current situation. ###
