The Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR), together with its centers and residential care facilities, recently participated in the nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill dubbed as “#Pagyanig 2016” to enhance the preparedness of various offices if the 7.2 magnitude earthquake strikes.
During the drill, the staff and clients performed the “Duck, Cover and Hold” technique to keep them safe. It was followed by a brief lecture on the basic survival and needs during calamities, particularly, during an earthquake.
Regional Director Vincent Andrew T. Leyson said that the Field Office and its centers will continuously enhance their measures to ensure the safety of its clients and residents. He said, “We are participating on this nationwide activity to teach our staff, clients and residents in the centers on how to properly respond during earthquakes. We are encouraging them to stay alert at all times”
The conduct of the nationwide earthquake drill is spearheaded by the Office of the Civil Defense and the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRMC). ### (FO-NCR, Social Marketing Office)
