In celebration of Nutrition Month this July, the Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR), together with its centers and residential care facilities conducted month-long activities which aimed to create awareness on the importance of breastfeeding for the first 6 months and providing the child complementary food necessary in the child’s developing stage.
This year’s theme, “First 100 days ni Baby Pahalagahan para sa Malusog na Kinabukasan” focused on the first 100 days of life starting from conception and before the second birthday of the child. It is during this period when growth faltering happens which has been also called the “golden window of opportunity” for a comprehensive package of nutrition and related interventions to achieve significant changes in reduction in child stunting, underweight and wasting, at the same time contribute to complete child development.
Different activities were held such as parade, Nutri-Quiz Bee, Nutri-Hat, Slogan, Poster Making Contest, and cooking demo, among others were conducted to further advocate the importance of nutrition on the first 100 days of life.###
